My Sweetsie Pea Turns 6 Months Old

Awhile back I announced that Rachel McCauley Photography would be expanding. Well, I am proud to announce for the first time on my blog the newest member of our team, Winifred Eden. Born September 22, 2013 right on her due date at 6 lbs 14 0z at 12:13PM. She certainly is punctual, but I must admit she needs to learn her way around a camera first before she officially can become a second shooter. She recently turned 6 months, so I thought it was time to finally share some photos here.

One of my favorite parts of being a mom is seeing her grow and develop. I loved being a wedding photographer before and now I am even more grateful for this job because it allows me to work from home. That way I never miss a milestone. It's been a bit of an adjustment being a work from home mom as, at first, things were a bit overwhelming. I find that now I get work done even faster than before because "me" time can be so fleeting in-between eat, play and sleep cycles. I truly value my time when I have it and everything I do, I do to provide for my daughter. She has made mine and my husband's life so much richer and fuller.

We love you, sweetsie pea.

These first few photos were taken at 3 weeks. Seems so long ago, yet not. I can't believe how tiny she was.

My Woodland Sea Creature Golden Book Inspired Baby Shower

Official announcement! Rachel McCauley Photography is expanding!! Literally.

My husband, Trevor, and I are expecting our first baby and IT'S A GIRL!

If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you may have already known, but this is my first official announcement to the public. We are simply over the moon.

This past weekend we got to celebrate with our closest friends and family at our co-ed Woodland Creature Themed Baby Shower. I also have a love of kittens, yarn, sea creatures and I enjoyed reading Golden books as a child. So, my one main request to my hostesses was to hire the super talented, awesome and creative event planners at Boxed Heart Events to make sense of my random ideas and I think they pulled it off beautifully. They even wrote and illustrated a story based on my favorite Golden book The Shy Little Kitten and incorporated all my favorite childhood things into the story. Too cute.

THANK YOU again to Boxed Heart Events for making my baby shower dreams come true. To all my gracious hostesses, my mom, Stephanie, Cari, Shannon, Jenny & Debbie,  I love you girls! Thank you so much to my Aunt Ely for opening up her beautiful backyard that just so happened to fit my theme perfectly. And big huge XOXO to all my family and friends who celebrated this new life with us. She is not even here and yet she is already so loved.

So, what does this mean for Rachel McCauley Photography? Currently, I am booking weddings for 2014 and not actively shooting any weddings and portrait sessions until mid November. 2014 couples still feel free to contact me! I'd love to hear from you until the stork arrives on September 22. I will definitely be seeing some of you in front of my camera again November of this year and will keep my blog updated throughout.

Ten years ago we wed.

Ten days we drove in our little Honda Fit to celebrate.

Ten decades from now I hope I still get to hold your hand as I fall asleep.

Even if we make it that far, it will never be enough.

So I choose to live.

My husband and I celebrated our tenth anniversary by exploring Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Colorado. We kicked off the trip with seeing a performance of the Love Beatles show and then headed east to get in touch with our inner John Muir. We experienced the Grand Canyon, Four Corners, Mesa Verde, Glenwood Springs cavern, a ghost tour at the haunted Stanley Hotel where Stephen King was inspired to write The Shining, the Denver Zombie Crawl, Arches National Park, Bryce Canyon and Meteor Crater. It was our first road trip. Our first of what will hopefully be many.
