My sister-in-law, S. Krystal, requested that I take photos of the 3rd birthday party of Hazel who is her son Finn's half-sister. Got that? It's even more complicated than that. Well, it's not really complicated in that it is really more like amazing. We are lucky to have this extended family in our lives.
I was given the direction to shoot the kids being kids and that's what I did. Kids can be so real and unabashed in front of the camera, it was easy. I think some of us lose that charm as adults because we can get pre-occupied with how we look. Shooting people being real and themselves is my favorite form of photography. Sometimes, we just need to act like children.
Anyway, the birthday girl had a princess theme so there was lots of pink and sugar and spice and everything nice.

I had the pleasure of attending Neil Gaiman's 50th birthday party this November 10, 2010. And, if that wasn't incredible enough the party took place in New Orleans.
I had no idea how much I could fall in love with a city. The people, the food, the music, the soul. Every corner you turn on the streets of the French Quarter there is life.
Thank you to Neil for being such a wonderful human being. Thank you New Orleans for your hospitality. We shall meet again soon.
I brought a DSLR to NOLA but opted for iPhonetography. I wanted to take people along with me on the trip on Twitter through photos as it was happening. I mostly used the Plastic Bullet app on my iPhone 3GS.

From Dictionary.cominspiration - in·spi·ra·tion [in-spuh-rey-shuhn]
–noun
1. an inspiring or animating action or influence: I cannot write poetry without inspiration.
2. something inspired, as an idea.
3. a result of inspired activity.
4. a thing or person that inspires.
5. Theology .
a. a divine influence directly and immediately exerted upon the mind or soul.
b. the divine quality of the writings or words of a person so influenced.
6. the drawing of air into the lungs; inhalation.
7. the act of inspiring; quality or state of being inspired.
Inspiration sparked from a photo is my favorite form of inspiration next to breathing in air. Breathing in air is necessary to live, but who wants to do it without inspiration.
In 1976 this photo inspired a man to drive 800 miles to meet this lovely lady he had never met before. He drove, walked in the door, hung out and played her a couple of love songs until she fell in love with him. 33 years of marriage later they are still crazy in love.
It's stories like these that keep me photographing. He was inspired. I was inspired. I hope you are inspired.
